Our history |
April 1964: Presentation of the initial 12 Buon Ricordo plates before the press in Milan. Almost immediately the first collections are started.
The Associazione was founded in Turin on March 2nd, 1977 by five esteemed collectors (Gianna Borsetti Zegna of Biella, Ilario Cinque and Corrado Lapi of Milan, Marco Regge and Carlo Dogliotti of Turin) under the supervision of notary Borgo. Its establishment was announced to the public and to a select group of journalists at the press club in Milan and celebrated with a formal reception. On this occasion, the 183 invited guests received a special plate that was issued by the Unione Ristoranti del Buon Ricordo to commemorate this event. It was immediately referred to as "Piatto del Collezionista 1977".
The Associazione gained new Soci fast and dedicated itself to their aims: It organised reunions in the restaurants that had changed their special dishes, held convivi for new members of the Unione Ristoranti, and the traditional meetings of Soci to foster the exchange of ideas. All in all, these convivi are a perfect excuse to meet up, taste regional cuisine and wines and spend a few enjoyable hours at a price that is certainly cheaper than the restaurants chosen would usually allow (another beneficial side effect of these reunions, by the way).
The Consiglio Direttivo was established, consisting of five members who report to the Collegio dei Revisori dei Conti.
Il piatto del Buon Ricordo NEWS is issued monthly and serves as a platform for members, the Associazione and the Unione to exchange news on their work.
The increase in the number of members, the growing reputation of the Associazione and the strength of our shared ideas have led the Associazione to pursue its own initiatives. Consequently, the meetings at the end of each year were introduced, for which a special plate featuring a sign of the zodiac is issued (in 2008, the eleventh reunion was celebrated). Another recent initiative is "Italia a Tavola", a meeting dedicated to individual regions of Italy (e.g. Romagna del Rubicone, Valnerina di Norcia, Polesine di Parma, il Pollino e la Sila) that will offer countless opportunities to enjoy Italian culture and cuisine in the years to come.
As you can see, founding the Associazione was worth it... Often, we travel hundreds of miles only to enjoy a special dinner together, knowing that it will always be a pleasure. If you are in doubt, wait till you have tried it yourself. |
